Texas out-the-door price

Totals update as you type. Every fee links to its official source. A fee that is not verified is a field you fill in, not a guessed number.

Desk worksheet. Government fees and the tax base come from the same verified rules as the buyer calculator. Dealer charges are the amounts you enter.

Before you agree

  • Ask for the out-the-door total in writing, with every fee named.
  • Compare the doc fee with the state rule shown under the field.
  • Optional products (nitrogen, etching, appearance packages) are not government fees.
  • Negotiate the out-the-door price, not only the monthly payment.
  • Check whether a trade-in or rebate changes the tax base in your state.

Government lines above are the recorded state fees. Dealer charges are only what you typed. If the doc fee is over a verified cap, the note under the result says so.

State breakdown

Dealer mode is a customer worksheet. The selling price, trade allowance, payoff, doc fee, and F&I products are amounts you enter. Sales tax and government fees come from the verified state rules, including whether a trade-in or a rebate changes the tax base.

Doc fee and add-ons

If a state has a recorded doc-fee cap, the field shows that rule. A doc fee above the cap is called out on the result. Add-on rows are optional products — service contract, GAP, appearance protection, nitrogen — and each one can be marked taxable or not. They are dealer charges, not DMV fees.

Handing the quote to a customer

Print uses the browser’s print dialog, which is also how you save a PDF. Share builds a link that opens the same numbers in buyer view, with the dealer-entered lines shown read-only. Copy puts the line items on the clipboard.

A worked desk example

On a $30,000 selling price with an $8,000 trade allowance and a $1,200 payoff, the payoff is added to the amount due and is not subtracted from the tax base. A $500 rebate is removed from the price. Whether it is also removed from the tax base follows that state’s rule, which the worksheet states next to the tax line. Confirm the printed total with your state motor-vehicle agency before the customer signs.
